The preservation of the family is the real source of security
for our communities. It is our conviction, therefore, that
parents have the right to rear their own child. It is also
our conviction the public and private service agencies have
the obligation to assist their efforts to preserve their families.
Therefore, the purposes of this association are:
- To promote the family centered service philosophy in Michigan
of delivering services to families in their home in order
to achieve permanence for children when appropriate, while
maintaining and strengthening family integrity.
- To encourage
and support the development of new and existing home-based
family programs with Michigan by providing information,
technical assistance and resources when needed, providing
and promoting training through conferences and workshops,
and supporting funding initiatives on the local and state
level.
- To provide a professional identity to home-based family
service provides through a statewide network, association
newsletter, and a voice to state agencies and government
on behalf of our interests and concerns.
- To advocate with
state governed agencies and legislative bodies on behalf
of the association regarding legislation for family policy
and resources to support a variety of home-based family
program: and
- To uphold the Michigan Home-Based Family Service
Association's standards of home-based family services
